Dennis Group helped Kellogg’s retrofit 76,000 SF of their 205,000 SF facility in Ontario in order to accommodate a new $43MM production line. The goal was to add two new products – Bran Buds and Kashi Heart to Heart cereals – in addition to the Mini-Wheat cereal currently being produced at the facility. To support the new line, process design was completed for wheat milling operations.
The team was required to remove a 5,000 SF section of the existing roof in order to replace it with a 100psf blast-resistant roof to house the new mix room.
The new line was capable of processing 30 million pounds of cereal annually, and included DX refrigeration cooling units to handle chocolate-inclusions.
This fast-track project went from approval to salable product in 10 months with out disrupting the operations within the facility.
