Doubled Capacity at Distribution Center

Big Y needed to double the size of their current distribution center to bring it to a total of 425,000 SF to accommodate their expanding network of grocery stores in the greater Massachusetts area.

Dennis Group expanded the site from 19 dock doors to 53 dock doors to improve the flow of goods. The expansion included 152,000 SF of dry product storage and 82,000 SF of specialized refrigerated storage with five zones (34 degree cooler for fresh seafood, deli meats, salads, olives and cheeses; 35 degree dry cold storage for fresh fruit; wet humid storage for leafy greens; 45 degrees for fresh flowers and 55 degrees for tomatoes) as well as additional banana ripening rooms.
