Dennis Group providing full design-build for the first human-based milk product for high-risk babies.
LactaLogics’ proprietary milk processing method, Gentle Ultra High Temperature (Gentle-UHT), uses indirect heat to achieve a high level of sterility while preserving the life-saving proteins, HMOs, and immune factors that are critical to high-risk infants. Unlike holder pasteurization or retort processing – commonly used in other dairy products and which denature key proteins by as much as 30% – Gentle-UHT inactivates all bacteria, molds, and spores with little impact on the proteins. The result is a shelf-stable milk product requiring no freezing or refrigeration, packaged in single-serve pouches or larger cartons.
LactaLogics spent over a year working at their R&D facility to conduct three commercial-grade processing runs before developing engineering plans for their new facility in Port St. Lucie, Florida. Dennis Group assisted from the planning stages, helping determine a design basis and mass balance for the 50,000 SF facility. Dennis Group is now executing the design-build of this high-care facility, which will house a large quality lab and have the capacity to process up to 60 million ounces of breast milk annually.
