Meati was leading the way in plant-based protein production by using precision fermentation to provide alternative proteins that are both flavorful and nutritious. Dennis Group helped them scale up from a pilot plant that had 5,000-liter fermentation tanks to an industrial facility with eight 25,000-liter fermentation tanks.
The expansion included the design and installation of eight additional fermentation trains and four fermenters with all supporting utilities and infrastructure. The expansion went from design to saleable product in a mere seven months.
With this new facility Meati can produce at a scale that matches and even exceeds that of the largest animal-based ranches in the U.S. Numerous energy-saving features along with Meati’s commitment to sustainability won this plant Food Engineering Magazine’s 2024 Sustainable Plant of the Year award. Some of the sustainable features include a water-reuse system and the application of renewable energy throughout the facility.
