Sofina Foods decided to repurpose what was originally a pork processing facility into a modern turkey processing facility.
The project began with strategic consultation to determine the most effective approach to the conversion. Scope included roof system repairs and modifications, installation of a new drainage system, and extensive facility renovations and additions. New elements were introduced to support operations, including a live shed, scale, truck traffic flow improvements, and a controlled atmosphere stunning area. The process area was designed specifically for turkey production, new process equipment was installed, and employee facilities and office spaces were fully renovated to enhance comfort and efficiency.
This award-winning project represented the largest single investment in the Canadian turkey industry in 25 years, breathing new life into a dormant building and creating a modern, highly efficient facility poised for future growth.
